RGB typically changes the whole strip together. Addressable RGBIC can show multiple color zones in one run when supported by the strip and controller.
Should I buy a complete kit or separate parts?
A complete kit is the simplest starting point. Separate components are better when you already understand the required voltage, controller protocol and power capacity.
How do I choose the right length?
